As an engineer you have multiple options to work in airlines. All airlines need engineers for their aircraft. The engineers are needed in various streams like electronics, mechanical and communication fields. To be able to do so you will have to apply to an airline and then go through a course on various systems. This would then lead you to prepare for exams which are conducted by Director general of Civil Aviation every 3 months

. On clearing these exams you could then become a certified Aeronautical Maintenance Engineer. Some developing airlines may take fresher but many would prefer to take engineers who have a qualification form the director general of civil aviation and the Aeronautical Maintenance Engineer Licensee. There are a number of Aeronautical Engineering Colleges which would help you undertake these tests.

Air Force Related Careers
Airlines job is definitely great for any one and reputable too. You have graduated with a Engineering degree already and it is great as it adds advantage for your airline career. So you have mentioned only that you want to work in an airline. But you have not mentioned as what you want to work in an airline as there are many jobs related to airline. So i am briefing you today on the types of jobs and qualifications required for your profile and i believe this information will help you a lot.

  • Pilot:
Being a pilot is definitely one of the reputable career in an airline industry. To become a pilot, one should attend basic training, get training qualifications, and also pass exams and most importantly get a pilot license. You can join a pilot training academy to become a pilot. Students usually join this pilot training school after completing 12th standard and some even join after a college graduation. In your case, as you have completed BE, you can also join this school. To be eligible to study here, it is very necessary to have studied physics and maths in 12th standard. I believe you studied these two subjects as you have studied engineering degree. Therefore, you need to take two year training at a pilot training institute, pass written and practical exams and then obtain license to work as a pilot. With a pilot license, you can work for any airline as a pilot.

  • Air steward:
You can also work as an air steward for any airline. For this you need to take a steward training course at any institute across India. Completing the training you can work for any airline as a steward.

  • Ground staffing jobs:
There are plenty of ground staffing jobs at airports. You will be working for your airline but be based at the airport. You will be responsible for handling passengers at airports, solving their queries, handling privileged members, hospitality management, staffing and many more. For this studying an MBA in HR will be ideal especially if you want to handle staffs at the airport for your airline.

  • Ground technician jobs:
I am not sure in what area you did your BE. If you have done BE Mechanical or Aeronautical then you are eligible to work in airports as a flight technician. If you have done BE Electrical or electronics, you are again eligible to work in the electrical department within flights. You can also do a PG course in the above areas and find airline jobs.

  • Airline corporate jobs:
Finally the corporate management jobs in airport, is the last option for a airline career. You can study MBA Aviation management course and after this course you can work in airline industry as a marketing officer, accounts officer, financial analyst, operations analyst and many more.

As you have not mentioned what type of airline job you want, I have briefed about all the jobs. However if you want to know more details on any of the particular career please contact me back. I can guide you again. All the best.
