Any particular reason you wish to shift into career counseling after years of experience into the IT field.
Please note that a shift at this stage would mean a new beginning or starting right from.scratch. Your entire experience would be nullified. Also there would be a huge difference in your payscale. If all this is fine with you then opt for the shift.
As such counseling courses should not be done online as the basics then are not clear since practicals are important and best way to learn. You could opt for a 2 years course in guidance and counseling.
But definitely give it a thought before you make a shift into a different field. In your field you could opt for MBA or Project management or digital marketing courses etc.
