Hi,

Psychology is a field with immense scope and varied applications. Career options are endless and at any point in time, individuals can expand their work to many areas and diversify. To give you a better picture of what you can do to diversify, I need to know in what kind of setting have you been working as a psychologist, what are your current qualitifcations, nature of you experience etc.

As such, psychologists can work in the field of education, academics, learning and development(in the corporate sector), research, NGOs, etc. However it would depend on your qualifications and experience. So please get back regarding the same so I can help you in a better way. Please write back to me regarding your age, qualifications, years of experiences, nature of work you have been doing, job description, your interest areas andyour assets or strong points as a psychologist.

Good luck!

With warm regards.

There are a number of things that you can do as a psychologist that woud help you to diversify your career. Below is the list of those things that would be of great help to you:

1. You can change the industry that you are working in. For example it may be possible that you are working in the health sector and you don't feel excited about this work anymore. In that case you can either temporarily or permanently change your industry. You can even go for the academic institutions where you would be able to interact with the students and professors and enhance your learning. You will also enjoy the change in work atmospehere. It always adds a positive impact on your profile and therefore you should do that.

2. You can go for higher studies to diversify your career. You can either do doctorate or any other masters degree in the related psychology field so that you learn variety of new things and enjoy the work after that. The newly added values and learnings will help you a lot in the long terms and also fetching a new job for yourself. Higher degree will always qualify you to make more money in the similar position. If you want to do more of a generalized degree such as an MBA you can also do that depending on your interests and career prospects. You should do the analysis of the pros and cons and then decide the educational path ahead.

3. You can either change the role within your organization if you are feeling bored of your current role. Many organizations understand this problem and offer enough flexibility to their employees so that they can grow beyond their core areas. You can also switch to another organization is you see more learning opportunities there. You need to consider the kind of things that you want to add in your resume. Based on that you need to decide which company and which role suits you the most and hence you should apply for that.
