Hello Niki,
Happy dusshera. Why pursue history when you ultimately wish to work as a social worker. You can join MSW and quit history majors. Or after you major with history, pursue an MSW course.
But that would mean engaging another 2 years into studies.
Please note there are many positions in an NGO to function as a social worker, apart from addressing the social issues. With your history background, you could get into teaching or education sector and help into educating the kids.
Slowly can get involved in other activities once you join the team.
Hope this helps.
Wish you good luck...
Dear Aspirant,
If you wish to work in Social sector, you will get jobs and work in NGOs, etc.
For Social Work, not always academic qualifications are necessary. For being in the social work domain, the most important aspect one requires is the high mental ability and passion to 'serve'.
If you have that passion and capability of serving people without any craving for money, then you can make a career in the social work irrespective of the qualifications you hold.
You need to immediately search for jobs in NGOs and try getting associated with self help groups informally and formally, so that you can get know to the working and the people there.
Also upload your resume based on your graduation on the job portals. Also contact private job consultants who will help you in customised way for getting into the social work domain.
Best wishes
