Hello,

This is indeed an excellent combination and in fact, I have taken up the same route. I am a Doctoral researcher in Organizational psychology and my past certificate in counselling practice has definitely equipped me well when applying my counselling skills on my role. I am more on the research on the academic arena and I should admit that both these fields go hand in hand.
Moreover I can also assure that industrial psychology combined with counselling will give you a good step into corporate counselling careers. You can find jobs in the HR, where you get to specially deal with employees on grievance, harassment issues and other sorts of conflict. You can also get your hands on personality development coaching in the corporate sector.

I would strongly recommend you to take this combination. However I would rather ask you to get a degree in Counselling psychology rather a Diploma/ certificate. Moreover an intense counselling training or an internship will further help you get a career after you graduate. Hope this helps.
Good luck.
