Ofcourse it would be of great help. To specialize as an Industrial Psychologist , Counselling would go hand in hand. It will not only improve your field of interaction with the place of work but also help you understand the people associated . This often leads to a good work environment where the clients would be able to achieve a better level of job satisfaction , where as you can always get a hefty income with regular pay raises.

This is infact good combination. You may work as a industrial psychologist in corporate and along with this, there is great demand of employee counseling. Your additional certification will help you set up and start employee counseling services. You may get better package in future.

As far as career options are concerned, you may work in industry mostly in HR section. You may work with CSR.
You can start own consulting firm in training, assessment and employee counseling.
You can get into academics for which you need to clear NET.

Hope I have answered your query. Feel free to get back to me if you have further queries.

Wish you best lcuk,Apurva

Hello,

This is indeed an excellent combination and in fact, I have taken up the same route. I am a Doctoral researcher in Organizational psychology and my past certificate in counselling practice has definitely equipped me well when applying my counselling skills on my role. I am more on the research on the academic arena and I should admit that both these fields go hand in hand.
Moreover I can also assure that industrial psychology combined with counselling will give you a good step into corporate counselling careers. You can find jobs in the HR, where you get to specially deal with employees on grievance, harassment issues and other sorts of conflict. You can also get your hands on personality development coaching in the corporate sector.

I would strongly recommend you to take this combination. However I would rather ask you to get a degree in Counselling psychology rather a Diploma/ certificate. Moreover an intense counselling training or an internship will further help you get a career after you graduate. Hope this helps.
Good luck.
