I am in 3rd year bcom and have recently dropped CA after pursuing for 2 years. Creativity is my forte but dont know how to pursue it.

Since I have put most of my recent two years in commerce and accounts, creativity seems to be fading and I lack the capabilities I could have had in it. Creativity, here, is underlining writing skills, communication skills, performing arts and experimenting with imagination. I can think better and deeper than most of my peers, but have been in monotonous areas which involve minimum of your own point of views. in the time where I could have built on my skills, I chose to do professional courses and ignore my interests. Now I am in a dilemma where I have dropped my professional course for my inability and lack of interest while the areas that had my interest in are weak and uncertain.

Hey there.....

Happy realization and also congrats because it is not too late. Better now than never.

All of us look for a secured career and as such the myth in the mind of people is that creativity is just a means of hobby and not as means of career.
Never-the less professions like Designing, journalism, editor etc would never have existed then.

Anyways coming to your question.
Do not loose hope.
Firstly when you have realised that you are a creative person, just work further on it, than just thinking you have wasted time.
After you complete your Graduation, you could opt for a masters degree in Mass-media or a Pg Diploma in Journalism or Advertisement.
But before that it would be good that you get a certificate course either in Graphic or web designing or a crash course in Advertisement done.
I am stressing on the crash course before you complete your Graduation, so that you gain back your confidence that your Creativity still exists.

Creativity is a field or course that can be pursued anytime and anywhere.
So dont worry, if creativity is your forte just go for it.

You can also opt for an MBA in advertisement or journalism.
But here my advice to you would be that without the basic knowledge do not opt for an MBA.
So pursuing a masters or Pg Diploma is a better option.

Hope this answers your query.

Wish you good luck...................

Dear Abhijeet,

Never the less that you have realised that professional course is not your cup of tea, is half battle won.

Do not loose hope and you have realised at the right time that what mistakes you have done and now its the time to correct them. I am glad and happy that you have decided to approach CareerGuide.com for seeking guidance and clarification for your career development.

As already suggested correctly by my fellow colleague Meghna, since you are a graduate there are many courses which are available for you to choose to enter into the creative field.

Your emotions and heart saying that you are not made up for professional courses and creative area is your life, you have got it what it takes to succeed. I believe in this terminology that if you are not mentally emotionally involved in what you are doing, then you wont succeed in that career at all.

You can go straight and pursue MA in Advertiding or PG in Journalism or Mass Communication from a good institute.

To make your interests sure for yourself, I would also suggest you to take a psychometric test available with CareerGuide.com. This test can be answered online and if available for an affordable fee. You can do it at your home and ensure that you answet the questions very hotestly and unbiased and all by yourself without anyone's interference and help.
This result of this test will clearly tell you that what are your interests, likings, strengths, weaknesses, passion areas.

Do get back in case you need any more clarification.
