I am interested in museology and history of art as I like history very much and also to explore can you pl tell me more about it?

My parents want me to pursue gnm nursing but I want to prove them that there is much scope in museology and history as im a arts student and do not have thre aptitute to study gnm. pl help me.

Great and diversified interests. Looks like you are an appreciator and admirer of ART and love to study them or atleast get details about them.


As such Museology, is the study and maintaining and describing ancient history and maintaining them and conducting research on existing facts and data. It is a part of Archaeology, whereby one studies ancient sculptures or artifacts or buildings etc. This job may involve a lot of travelling to remote areas and being out whole day long with a team.
Other than that as a museologists, you would be placed in the museum, whereby you would be completely in charge of the museum or in layman language " Museum Management".

As discussed above, the main responsibility includes organizing and maintaining museum and museum collection. Mainly they are into exhibiting artifacts, displaying objects and detailing and documenting them at the same time describing it to the onlookers. This is know as "Curator".
The curator needs to be well equipped with facts and figures, sometimes details which goes a little deeper about the monument which are not mentioned too. A lot of patience, good vocabulary, knowledge of varied languages and a lot of energy to move around and still be cheerful and most important Love for ART and appreciating quality.

You can get jobs in ART Galleries, National and government museums, Libraries and Exhibition galleries.

Also please note that sometimes appreciating a sculpture or monument is interesting, but your job would involves going one step further that is minute detailing. But again note that these minute detailing are already placed before you, you just need to document them and know them thoroughly to orate them to people who visit galleries or museums. Hardcore or hands on jobs are done by archaeologists.
Historians
You can pursue course in Archaeology, after graduation, only requirement is an undergraduate study of History as a subject. As an archaeologists, too you could find jobs in a museum, since it would involve talking about what you discovered rather than talking about others discovery.
