Dear Saurav,

Sorry to hear, you are unable to study in the present field.

Though it is too early to say to quit the field, but ultimately that would be the only resort left.

But still I want you to give it your best short.

Consult your professors, study with them some extra time, after your lecturers are done, study smart rather than rote learning, get into practical ways of studying than just trying to learn by rote learning.
Try making your own notes, during lectures make your notes of what the professor explains, go back and revise and then note down your doubts and clarify with the professors the nest day.
Other than that, you could form your own study groups, whereby a friend can try explaining the concept to you or rather you try and explain the concept to a friend and see how it work.

I am saying this only because, I am sure that after clearing 12th and the entrance exam, competing with many students you have secured an admission, so Yes you are a deserving student.
Just that sometimes memorizing becomes a constraints, but do not loose hope.

Find new ways of studying and then studies will be easier.

Only of you are still unable to cope, despite trying then you could think of other options, but I am sure you will be able to cope up.

Wish you good luck................

Dear Sourav,

Situations like the one you are currently in may arise in career and thats sometimes natural. I would like to tell you to introspect within yourself first about what really is bothering you and not able to keep you going. Are the subjects tough, or simply there are some distractions in your personal life which are making you not concentrate on your studies.

I am glad that you decided to approach CareerGuide at a right time before taking any decision and I appreciate this.

Mechanical Engineering is really an interesting field and huge scope is available for mechanical engineers. I would like to ask you that at the time of choosing your stream of engineering after your HSC, were you sure that Mechanical Engineering was for you? Did you choose the stream while being in some pressure of parents or advising from family and friends?

If the answer to the above questions is yes or slightly yes, then definitely you will face problem in the stream since you are not emotionally connected to the studies.

Yes, you can change to other field, however you have not mentioned in which year of engineering you are currently in. If you are in the first year, then you can change to another stream of engineering. If you are wanting to leave engineering field entirely, then you may go for Science or Commerce or Arts. based on your HSC marks.

I would strongly recommend you to to undergo a psychometic test which is also available with CareerGuide. This test after answering will exactly tell you in which stream you are more suited for career and success.

Best Luck
