Hello,

Welcome at CareerGuide.com

Interesting.....

But right now I m unable to understand the reason for you to ask such a question.

There are students who have a dual specialization either at one go or they pursue it later.

It is completely your wish to pursue an HR specialization.

What you could do is to save time, few institutes offer it as a certificate course which is for 6 months to a year.
But better would be to work in an HR department and know the basis of the work there, rather than opting for another few years or months of study.
See if you are liking the job and whether you could continue in the said job.

As far as possible, getting an experience in an industry, helps you knowing which area your focus must be on.

So work, gain experience and then take a call ro else if you are sure, then just go enroll and opt for your specialization.

Check Welingkars and IGNOU for the 6 months course in HR.

Wish you good luck.....

Hello,

Thanks for Visiting at CareerGuide.com,

From your inquiry I understand you are already specialised into one of the core branches of Management, Marketing. First of all it is highly essential to clarify why you would be interested with adding up an extra specialisation. As you have already graduated with your PGDM in Marketing, I believe you would have read atleast one module on Human resource management as part of that degree? If this is the case, you may try looking out for human resource jobs with this PGDM certificate. However if you want to pursue extra courses in human resource management out of your sheer interest, then you may do some distance education courses like the Certificate or Diploma in Human resource management Labour and industrial relations and so on.

If your intention is to diverge professionally into human resources by taking a deviation from Marketing, then it is highly suggested that you get started with a HR job first. To knock on, you may approach any recruitment consultancies for a role in Recruitment. You can start a job as a Sourcing analyst, Recruitment analyst, Recruiter and so on. While you are working in such roles, you can understand your interest in human resources and develop your skills from there on. For example, recruitment is not alone the function of human resources and it has many more departments. Once you have gained hands on experience within recruitment, you may go around trying other functions of the human resource department like pay roll, staffing, industrial relations, learning and development. While you explore each and every department, you can understand your fit within this field and pursue a course accordingly. For example, if you like recruitment then you can do Professional certification in Recruitment. In case you like pay roll or manpower handling then you may do a course like the Certificate or Diploma in Industrial relations.

The best and ideal way to understand your skills and match your strengths is to first embark on a job within the human resources and then study a related HR course either part time or by distance simultaneously. Some of these courses might help you on the long run, though Professional certifications like the cipd will be more rewarding.

Post graduate diploma/ certificate in human resource management, Industrial relations, Recruitment, MSc Applied Psychology and so on. All the best.

Dear Aspirant,

Thanks for approaching us at CareerGuide.com!

I think you should choose any one of them as your career. Marketing and HR together, you wont find any job.

Also please do not be after qualifications. This will only make you over qualified and less employable if you do not have the right skills.

To be best sure of what suits you for your career, I would suggest you to undergo an online psychometric test from CareerGuide.com which will help you understand yourself in respect of your strengths, weaknesses, emotional quotient, etc. and will exactly tell you which stream is good for you.
You can then call counsellors to discuss.

Best wishes,

Dr. Anand Wadadekar
