Hello Srinivasan,

Firstly all the very best, as 12th is your foundation. Do well here and your career pathway is set.

Secondly looking at your line of interests, I am sure in your 12th, you have opted for Science and the combination of PCMB.

As "Particle Physics" would require a strong base or knowledge of Physics and Math.
I am sure you are aware that "Particle Physics" is a study of Particles in the universe and researches create a situation where by they create a universe situation and make do a sort of collision and thereby study their effects on the globe. This basically helps and makes people pre-informed of any new happening or traumas one could face when such particles collides.

This was just an introduction to the subject. There is more to it, and once you are into it, the nitty-gritty of it would be easily understood.
But from the above mentioned brief introduction, you may be clear that this is purely a Research oriented field.

So your studies do not stop at just a post-graduate level, you need to move up to the P.Hd level.

Here after 12th, you could opt for a Physics Specialization but not applied Physics, which is more engineering based.

You could opt for a B.Sc Physics and then at the masters level opt for Particle Physics too. Or you could opt for a B.Sc in Astrophysics and further it with masters and then opt for a P.Hd too.

Few institutes offer a combination of an M.Sc and P.Hd. mostly the IIT, especially IIT Hyderabad.

Anyways check the following institute:
physics.iith.ac.in
Indian Institute of Astrophysics: www.iiap.res.in

Hope this answers your query.

Wish you good luck...............
