Firstly wonderful years of experience in your area of expertise. After such wonderful experience people definitely look towards a managerial role and so are you.
But please note, since your experience is into the technical field, companies will first offer you a job related to your field of experience.
So as a manager, you would have to begin all over from the basic.
Why dont you opt for a team leader kind of a job, which is like heading a team but in your area of expertise.
And never the less, I agree with Dr. Anand, getting project management certified will boost your career.
Do not get disheartened. Keep hopes and apply for a managerial role, but at the sametime be ready to start as a fresher.
