Hi,

To become an efficient Psychologist you need to possess certain traits:

1. A general interest in people is a must in short you should be a social person
2. You should have sympathy for others and loads of patience
3. You should be good in controlling your emotions
4. Should have great communication skills
5. Possess ability not to connect oneself with others

If you have these along with an interest in Psychology then I am quite sure that Psychology will be the right field of study for you.

Best Wishes

Interesting to note that you know yourself so well and have identified your own strength.

As a Psychologists, it is one of the qualities that you should possess. You need to be happy and thats how clients would be able to relate to you and to what you say.
Only then will they be genuinely interested in what you say and will follow it accordingly.

But most importantly, you need to teach the client to be happy and in the process teach them to get rid of the problems

Apart from this you need qualities like:
  • Being empathetic rather than being symapthetic
  • Non-judgmental
  • No biases
  • Ignore rule books
  • Good Analytical Qualities
  • Patience to listen, without interfering
  • Less personal linkages
Aprt from this traits, one needs to also have their own personal charms by which they can help the clients estblish a good rapport with themselves. Connection between a client and therapists is very important.
You must be able to on the spot make links and ghive real life examples to which a person can relate to at the same time must not be offensive.

Moreover a course in Psychology will help you get these concepts right in place.

But before you choose Psychology as a career make sure it is what you wish to do. Not because people have told you to do so.

The happy go lucky attitude will help you go a long way in any career you choose to be in future.

Wish you all the very best....
