As per the requirements of Merchant Navy Courses, one needs to have PCM in 12th however you % requirement of PCM varies according to what course you select.
E.g.
For B. tech Marine Engineering & Bsc Nautical Science you would require an aggregate of 60%(PCM)
For B.Tech Naval architecture & Ship building - 50% average in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics)
Another one will be
PRE-SEA TRAINING G.P. RATINGS- 50% PCM in 12th
Physical requirement would be a good vision of 6/6.The candidate should be Physically and mentally strong.
The selection procedure would include a written exam in P, C, M -All India Merchant Navy Entrance Test (AIMNET)

Interview on General awareness and knowledge about sea trading
A psymetric assessment test to determine mental preparation of the candidate.
