If you have a degree in industrial engineering and you are not keen to pursue your career in the core industrial engineering sector you can work in a number of sectors that are available to you. You will find plenty of opportunities for you in today's world. Below is the list of few opportunities that you can explore if you have the degree in industrial engineering:

1. If you are interested in software sector you can go on join the Information Technology sector. The software jobs are usually open for all engineering candidates and you can apply in them which won't be that tough. The salaries are also decent and so is the nice work life balance. But you will have to learn the basics of programming and the software so that you can get in to the jobs. In India there are plenty of jobs in the software market and you won't find any problem in entering them.

2. You can go for a number of non technical jobs available for the engineering students. These jobs include business analysts, research analysts, teacher, etc depending upon your interests and skills. There are a number of such non technical jobs where only engineers are preferred and therefore you can try for them.

3. You can go for higher studies and then look for a job. In this case you can go for your masters in some related field of engineering so that you can stay in the engineering sector after completing your education. Or you can go for a more generalized degree such as an MBA that will help you to explore the new career options and even take a complete shift in your work profile. In such case you can either go back to your engineering sector with a management profile or you can shift the industry and look for other sectors which you find interesting during your MBA.

Therefore there is no dearth of opportunities if you want to go beyond industrial engineering with a degree in the same field.
