You have very good stand to try for lectureship in management and further for Ph.D from a reputed institution. My frank opinion for you to join any college/university as Ph.D research scholar either in management or join as teacher/lecturer both options are open for you.

IIMA and other prestigious institutes take internal test and do ask for CAT as you have not mentioned anything about CAT i guess you have not cleared it???

Better you explore the website of all such institutes and explore the particular requirement for particular Ph.D program. Sometime they do give the priority to academic staffs under academic up-liftment scheme and therefore they declare the statef=gic plan for doctorate program, where no of seats are also very important. These premium institutes having limited seats and can not give due consideration without any reason.

As you belong to SC so you must be prioritized in that way to avail the reserved seat in any institution in India,

Another line of exploration for Ph.D from abroad:

Just join as a lecturer in any govt. college. university spend three years in teaching and research as well and then apply for sabbatical leave to do Ph.D from abroad. There is a provision in academics to go for study leave upto five years but you have to complete the tenure of your probation.

It is also one of the viable option for you so that you can avail the best opportunity world wide.

Try to make a very good Curriculum Vitae and statement of purpose stating your academic background in professional manner and what you want to do in your future career everything is very crucial for you.

The destiny decides the destination it is said in general, it is you who carry the labor under correct sense and destined to try the best in your life.

Management with computation engineering background make you acceptable world wide so give your best to design a very good professional career. Even you can explore the management-cum-IPR world and play a role of consultant can lead you to the exciting career.

Anyways one must not compromise the interest and always do the best to achieve the value rather than tar

getting success in life.

Best of luck !

Dear Aspirant, you have a valid NET certificate with you, great, and you are an Engineer and also having the degree of management. You have very good and competitive educational combination. In my opinion, if you are not JRF, nothing to loose and no need to dishearten. Reason being is that by being JRF you would have been working as research scholar in any Indian college of university. Now you can join any university and pursue for higher studies.

Now first, try to decide, what you want to do in your career, do you want to pursue it in the field of education or research or you want to join any organization as an executive and progress like any thing.

If you want to go in the field of education or research then your certificate of NET will help you otherwise for a job in any private organization, this is of no use.

Let us take the first scenario that you want to make use of your NET certificate. Since you have a Management degree in masters, you could try in university or college for the post of lectureror Assistant Professor. Since you belong to SC category, this will definitely help you to get this job. After completing few years, you may enroll yourself for the doctoral degree program. In my view try to do it from a reputed university of institute. Here you pursue your research in the filed of technology merging with management, since you are a computer engineer. This will justify your both the degrees.

On the other hand, you may try to do doctoral degree from a western university. Definitely a degree from abroad will give you an edge over others in getting jobs. In India also you will be given preference over those who have obtained their degree from Indian university. I am telling you the practical aspects, technically any degree from abroad or from any India university are comparable and eligible on the same platform.

In the mean time you may also try and look for a doctoral degree from premier institutes like Indian Institute of Management. By possessing a NET certificate, it seems clear that you want to pursue your career in the field of higher education. So, go for PhD degree right now, or you may do it later as an in service candidate.

Good Luck....

Hello there

Thank you very much for approaching counsellors at Meracareerguide.com and i am glad you are taking advice to help your position. I am certainly happy to help you with your query today. I see you wanted to study a PhD management. Very good. You have well thought about your career path and i sincerely appreciate you for that.

Phd admissions in management are different from university to university. So it really requires a deep search on each universities principles and policies in selecting and giving scholarships. Not universities in India follow the same rule.

To get Phd admission, you need to have four year bachelor degree, two year master degree. And you are expected to score first class and above in these two degrees. Also getting university rank is very good to help you being placed at top while considering admission offer. But if you are from reserved quota, then you can be allowed to send application even if you have 55% in your both degrees. This will only help you send application but to secure your offer you need to be a tough competitor. So lets come straight to the point. For admissions UGC NET is mandatory. Very good you are qualified for a lec position too. You are a highly desirable candidate too now. With regards to scholarship, as i said every university plays separate rules. But IIT Madras department of Management studies give you an option to get scholarship if you have a ugc-net score. But if you also have a UGC-JRF, it is highly desirable for them.

Next almost all national universities and state universities require you to submit ugc-net and ugc-jrf score cards for both admission and scholarship.

If you consider private universities like Amity, Alliance business school, SRM Chennai, VIT Vellore they are happy to get u admitted with UGC-Net but they dont ofefr you any schoalrship. You will have to pay full tuition fees and their fees are very high actually. But you can sometimes do part time lectures at their BSchool to support your income. Some of these schools also require CAT or MAT for admission.

Next the IIM's. They require CAT/MAT/GMAT along with ugc net score. If you have appeared for either of the three tests they accept your application. They dont require a UGC JRF to give you scholarships. All students admitted receive automatic scholarships.

Lastly ISB Hyderabad, Indias number one business school. They require GMAT/CAT for admission. They dont require anything else. If you have good or top score in any of the above they admit you and they accept your full fee. They also give you on campus accommodation and monthly stipend which is relatively high. They dont need ugc scores at all.

Please write back if needed further guidance. Good luck.
