Ishaan Khanna

I have completed BTech in CSE and have been working as a software developer since the past 1 year. I now want to work as a wealth/portfolio manager. Which would be a better course ? CFA or MBA Finance.

MBA is one of the best option for masters for the BTech graduates

. The leading institutes which offers MBA degree with good placements include MIT university, Lovely Professional University, IP university etc.

Dear Aspirant,

Sad to see that by choice you completed your Engineering in Computer Science and also got a job as a software developer and worked for one year and now you are thinking to leave that domain and sector and go into very unrelated sector of personal finance / portfolio management.

Hope you are now at least sure that portfolio management / wealth management is what you wish to do as a career for life going ahead. Just to ask, how did you finalise portfolio management as your next and last career option? Are you obsessed with the money they make or have heard making money?

If you wish to be in wealth management, personal finance, CFA and MBA Finance won't help you exactly. I woudl recommend Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Certification from the FSBI. This is the single certification which makes you certified and licensed to work independently or in a company as a Wealth Planner. For Portfolio Management, in the long term CFA is best suited which you need to do along side a job.

Best wishes
