These sort of questions and confusions are pretty common with youngsters of your age, so there is nothing really to worry. The root for such confusions could be - unclear aims, thoughts and focus. So if you can correct these in time, I am sure you will get to be clear what you want in life and in career as well.

You have mentioned that you have completed Bcom and are confused of going on with the next step. This is a phase where you should carefully think about either going for a job or studying further. So whats on your preference? Think wisely. You have a variety of career options available for the BCom degree and some of which you may try are - banking, customer service/ BPO, financial analysts, marketing analyst, trade analyst, accountant, credit analyst, customer relationship management in personal banking domain and so on. Try uploading your resumes on job sites and contact HR's of companies through their company website or linkedin to forward your resumes and seek job. However, if you are interested about studying further then here are the options for you.

Human Resource Management

Further study options:
1. MCom:
This is the most advisable route I would offer you having done a commerce degree at your bachelors level. As you will know an MCom degree will take upto two years time to complete, however it will keep you on foot when it comes to indepth knowledge on subject. This will also keep you highly employable rather having only a Bcom degree. As a part of the Mcom, trying getting a specialisation like MCom with finance or Mcom with banking. To be honest, MCom with Banking has high scope in the present times.

2. MFM - Master of financial management:
Not sure if your major in Bcom, was finance. If yes, then this is such an apt choice for you. You can study MFM, two year course and on completion you are often attracted by the Big 4 companies - Deloitte, KPMG, EY, PWC. Take this course only if you had a finance major in your Bcom and are interested in finance whole heartedly.

3. MSc HRM:
If you have studied human resources in your Bcom, and would like to stay on the HR side in your future career, an MSc HRM is indeed a right choice. IIT Kharagpur humanities department runs MSc HRM, two year course and is widely popular and reputed. There are still many other colleges offering this course through out India. Completing this course you can target working as HR of any company.

4. Chartered accountancy CA/Chartered financial analyst CFA/Company secretaryship:
These three courses are professional courses, where as the first three are non- professional postgraduate courses. If your major in Bcom was accounts then you can start studying for a CA, if your major was finance in your Bcom, then you may do CFA. However if you had studied Bcom with corporate secretaryship, then you may be well suited to studying Company secretaryship.

5. Law:
This is again a professional course. If you are interested in law then you may join BL - Bachelor of law, a three year course at any law college in India. Completing it, you can practice as a lawyer in your specialised area - civil or criminal.

6. PGDM - Post graduate Diploma in Management:
If you are interested on the management side of the organisation, then doing a post graduate diploma is highly advisable. There are plenty of B schools in India that offer PGDM course and you may try for an admission at one of the top reputed schools. The most entrance test will be the CAT exam and prepare well to crack CAT. However, a PGDB/ MBA is wise and advisable only if you have gained at least a minimum of two year experience. If you are a fresher with a BCom degree, select any of the five options from above.

All the best.

Dear Aspirant,

Commerce is a big, deep and vast field just like science.

Since you have done BCom, by now I am sure that there must be a subject which you have liked and are comfortable with.

I would suggest you to pursue a career in commerce based on your subject liking.

To be best sure of what suits you for your career, I would suggest you to undergo an online psychometric test of Ideal Career Test from CareerGuide which will help you understand yourself in respect of your strengths, weaknesses, emotional quotient, etc. and will exactly tell you which career is ideal for you.
You can then call counsellors to discuss.

Best wishes!
