Hi there,

Firstly  congratulations you are a graduate and that too an engineer.

Secondly, I would say that career is a personal choice and one cannot be forced into chosing a career. But sometimes students are unaware of their potentials and hence  needs to be guided. But in your case I see you have made your choice.

Now the only thing you need is the skill of communication. Do a self introspection as to your strengths liking etc. Analyse how you could be succesful as an engineer. Once you are clear, talk it out with your father. But do not get aggressive or emotional.

Use only logic in convincing him.

Hope thiz helps.

Wish you good luck...

Dear Aspirant,

Firstly, it is very important to convince your father that competitive exam and government jobs are not what you are wanting to do but Civil Engineering is the career you wish to have. You need to tell him that there is good potential and career growth in civil engineering domain for real estate, construction, etc. which also gives  good salary. Later you can also have you own or dream of having your own company into real estate, construction, etc.

BTech Civil Engineering is a good qualification, and you should immediately start looking for jobs, since you will not be able to clear the competitive exams since it is against your will and ambition, passion.

Based on your civil engineering, you have good scope in job market and I would suggest you to upload your resume on job portal and also give it to private job consultants.

Best wishes
