Firstly congratulations you are a graduate and that too an engineer.
Secondly, I would say that career is a personal choice and one cannot be forced into chosing a career. But sometimes students are unaware of their potentials and hence needs to be guided. But in your case I see you have made your choice.
Now the only thing you need is the skill of communication. Do a self introspection as to your strengths liking etc. Analyse how you could be succesful as an engineer. Once you are clear, talk it out with your father. But do not get aggressive or emotional.
Use only logic in convincing him.
