Interesting and good that you are deciding to study further.

It is very very important to get a degree, and good to see that you are working towards that end only.

The qualification rather eligibility stated for AMIE entrance exam is

  • students who have qualified as a Diploma in Engineering or 12th pass
  • students who have a combination of PCM.
Since you are a Diploma holder, even though Part-time I dont think it should be an issue for you to pursue AMIE.

My only question to you is, why are you not opting for a regular B.E or B.tech.
Since you are a Diploma holder, you are eligible for a direct entry into the 2nd year of B.E course.
Only that you would have to clear an entrance tests which would check your knowledge related to the engineering stream,
And I am sure that since you are a Diploma holder, it would not be an issue to clear the exam.

As it is well known that Diploma courses are tougher than a regular degree course, since Diploma students are exposed more practically right from the beginning, whereas degree courses begin more theoretically and ends up being practical, but cant cope up with the diploma students knowledge.

I wish you rethink on your decision. Since you have planned a degree course, why take a shorter route when you are well equipped.
Take a chance, there is nothing you will loose.

Wish you good luck....
