Hello Shubham,
Why in the first place did you pursue a course in Hotel management?.
So now its important for you to decide which area you wish to work at?. Then only select a specialization at the MBA level. You already have an experience into marketing, so obvious choice during management would be marketing. But would still advise you to think twice as to whether you are a perfect fit into the marketing role.
Anyways in terms of your job profile, after an MBA from a reputed institute and campus placement, you would be employed in the junior manager role. Depending on your expertise, you would have to direct a team towards achieving a target and see it is achieved as you would be solely responsible. You would also have to co-ordinate with dealers and get a project for the organization.
Just a word of caution, do not bank upon the name of the Institute. Not all IIM graduates get a deserved position. It all depends on your ability and innovativeness
Also another suggestion would be, if MBA is your final choice, then keep options open other than IIMs
Wish you good luck..
Dear Aspirant,
A little unfortunate case as many. You did your Hotel Management and still accepted a job in Marketing and Sales. How many years have you worked in JLR dealership?
Your thought of doing MBA from top BSchools is logical only when you are confident that you wish to continue in Marketing and Sales domain. Your hotel management qualification is now a waste and we need not thnk about that at all.
If you are liking the Marketing and Sales job currently, then if you have completed three or five years of work experience, I would suggest you to go for part time Executive MBA and not a full time MBA. Leaving your job is not recommended if you are settled in it. Part time MBA is of three years and for this you can try for FMS Delhi or MDI Gurgaon or Amity University. Doing this will definitely help you climb the corporate ladder and change jobs as well.
Best wishes
In order to post replies to the question: "I have done Hotel Management, but never worked in Hotels or tourism sector, instead of I joined sales and marketing at Jaguar Land Rover dealership, I am planning an MBA from reputed B-Schools like IIM or FMS,What will be my Job prospect/employability"
