Hi Som Ayushi,

NET is National Eligibility Test and SET is the state eligibility test. So Net has a wider scope as it is applicable nationwide whereas SET is applicable only in a particular state for which it is conducted.

Income also remains the same if you apply to the government college since the 7th Pay commission shall be applicable, for private college it varies from Institute to Institute.

As per my concern, You should complete your master's first, Then, of course, you are eligible to prepare for NET Exam. If you are willing to get a lectureship or professorship in any recognized university in India, you need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
1. Must have passed Masters Degree examination from a recognized university in the subject you would like to teach.
2. Must have scored a minimum of 55% marks in the master's degree examination.
3. Must have qualified National Eligibility Test for Lectureship conducted by University Grant Commission mainly to recruit research assistants and professors in various streams of education.
Qualifying Examination:

The candidates who have completed their post-graduation in related subjects from any recognized university are eligible for applying for the  UGC NET exam. The candidate must have a minimum of 55%.

One more thing that you are probably looking for stability and income as well. So, you should know what exactly job options are thereafter clearing NET Exams.
