Hello There!

I appreciate that you did the right course after BCom and now gaining industry experience. I am further happy to know your intention to further your education and this indicates that you are not complacent and relaxing and wish to keep enhancing your career to newer and greater heights. You have done the right thing to approach CareerGuide.com for seeking guidance.

Well, deciding between MBA and MCA is really a tough task considering their strong and proven background and success rate. Since you have gained some experience in IT field, MCA seems more appropriate. GNIIT is a wonderful course and it has definitely helped you seek placements and helped you gain work experience.

However I would like to make you aware of the facts about how to go about MCA and MBA course. You may be knowing that MCA and MBA are both master degree courses, very distinct from each other. Pursuing MCA or MBA actually depends on what you have decided to do in the coming five years. I think you should answer some of the questions like:

1. Whether do you wish to enhance your technical skill sets in order to get into high end work in IT/software?

2. Whether do you wish to become a master degree holder to help you gain increment or job shift?

3. Whether do you wish to shift to a management role like a Project Manager in future?

4. Whether do you have time to pursue full time MCA or MBA, since doing a full time MCA and MBA has an edge over distance learning courses?

5. Will you think of doing both courses one by one for better prospects?

If you can introspect and find out answers to the above questions, it will be very easy for you choose the option.

As said earlier, MCA and MBA both are strong courses, but the most important thing for you here is to judge and decide which way you wish to take your career - whether into hard core technical or techno+management or just management?

Best Luck.
