You have two dreams. One you want to build space related machines or mechanisms and secondly you donot know what exactly you should do.

For the first I will advise you to join mechanical enginnering stream in one of the best colleges in India. To start with IITs or NIITS or refer to the top engineering college in India according to your merit. Study the basic concept in mechanism and machines with devotion. Get engineering degree. During the collge education do visit places like Nehru Centre, Mumbai or Vishwesharayya industrial and technical museum. You will have a good experience and it will help to build the power of imgination.

Secondly you should explore what problems / inconveniences are being currenly. You can develope some solutions for that. You can also join institutes like ISRO by appearing for the entrance test. You should know the qualification criteria for appearing the test.

Bottom line: To become scientist you need knowledge but more than that you need imagination and focused thinking.

All the best wishes

Dear Student

Still your query is not stating about your current qualification though I welcome your idea to be a space research scientist. As you your self motivation reflects the confidence in scoring good marks which is good sign for career keep it up. Though claiming any subject requires hard work and intelligent analysis about the background and further requirement only then you can say this is my subject and I understand the domains with a great ease.
Of course one should pursue a subject which gives you the scope to redefine or explain the noble hypothesis. I hope you must be knowing the course structure and its further implication worldwide. It looks like a elite class or in different language it is rocket science and everybody is fascinated about it either with joining purpose or following purpose. At larger scale space research is meant for versatile research work where scientists from different background are joining in collaboration at multidisciplinary or transdisciplinary level.
Before developing the thought about the joining you must do the following things:

1. Check your standard at background level-physics chemistry and maths what you have in your current course structure but still you have to evaluate yourself by doing sel analysis which is very interesting. This analysis will give you the real demonstration about your interest whether you have developed the pseudo-image or it is true so that you will not be in trouble at mid stage of your study. This happens in general where students go for the swap of course to the other based on the feasibility which is not a healthy approach so one must check the course structure in details.

2. Implication of subject in your personal, professional and social life. As we know the recognition of technology gives you the ultimate recognition in society which is a benchmarking system. Though space research is known by every intellectual worldwide.

3. Your preparedness with a focus of independency if you pretend that I am depending on this subject which could be leading me towards the greater success of job or glamour then it is your myth, just come out from such myth and just do it for your understanding, interest, confort and comitment only then it will release you like a fish in water while sinking and floating.

Hope my opinion is clearly understood by you.
Best luck
