Working in Railway has become one of the career aspirations of the youth in India thanks to the various facilities to the railway employees offered by Indian Railway.

The SCRA recruitment is being done by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) and the notification for it comes in the National Daily Newspapers and on The Website of the UPSC itself.

Qualification Required:

  • Applicants need to have passed intermediate, i.e. 10+2 education Level or equivalent. At this qualifying level of examination, applicants need to have 1st or 2nd division with mathematics compulsory and Physics and Chemistry as one of the subjects.
  • Aspirants should have passed the first-year exam under three year degree course of University.  If the candidate has passed first exam of three year diploma course in Rural Service of National Council for Rural Higher Education or III year can also look upon for exam.
  • The competitors must have passed the graduation with mathematics where Physics and Chemistry have been studied for the exam as one of the subjects.

Application Fee:

  • There is 100 Rs. Payable as fee for the exam and can be paid by net banking through VISA/Master Card etc. or can be paid at SBI and associate banks branches.
  • There is full concession in Fee and the Female/SC/ST/PWD candidates are no more liable to pay the fee for exam.

Age Limit:

  • Candidates must fulfill the Age criteria as age at the time of filling up of application must not be less than 17 years and more than 21 year

Selection Procedure:

  • The final list for recruitment will be made on the basis of Written Examination and the Face to face personal Interview.

SCRA Exam Pattern:

The Examination will be conducted in two parts:

Part 1: Written Examination

  1. General Ability Test – 2 Hours – 200 Marks
  2. Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry) – 2 Hours – 200 Marks
  3. Mathematics - 2 Hours - 200 Marks

Part 2: Personality Test

Personality Test will be for 200 Marks and the candidates who get qualified after passing the written exam will be called for the personality Test.

  1. Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry)

Syllabus for the Physical Sciences is similar to the academic level syllabus for the Class 12th Level
