Career Scope in Beautician

 Curls, perms, latest cuts, orange, blue, yellow and god-knows what colored creams guaranteed to provide the best beauty treatment are flooded in the market, but real professionals who are keen to cash in on their interest in this area are a handful. But if you are one of those interested in this field, then worry not! In this age, where style, health, fitness and looking-good are given topmost priority, opportunities in the beauty industry are almost countless! As a professional in this field, you will be involved in either all of the areas like hair dressing, cosmetology, skin, hair care or you could specialize in one of them. You will not only be advising your clients but also dealing with skin treatments, exotic therapies such as aroma therapy, herbal massage, coloring, perming, anti-ageing etc.

In short, the client’s looks will be entirely in your hands and building up a good reputation can benefit you throughout your career!

Skills required for beauticians

To pursue a career in the beauty industry, one needs to possess the following personality traits:

  •          Clearance of senior secondary school from CBSE, ISC or any equivalent board in any stream.
  •          Pursuing a basic undergraduate degree course in Home Science or any subject.
  •          Pursuing a diploma course in beauty culture and hair dressing of the  duration varying from 2 -6 months, from a reputed institute.
  •          Undergoing a training programs conducted by a well-known beautician would provide an
  •          advantage to the student during placement.
  •          Courses in this field generally include theory and practical aspects.
  •      Theory would include courses on:

 

        Physiology

        Anatomy

        Hygiene

        Nature of hair

        Salon organization etc.

  •          Practical work would include applying make-up, giving facials, preparing different lotions, tinting, streaking or bleaching hair etc.
