Food technology is the study of manufacture, storage, preservation, packaging and distribution of food products.
The food technologists are responisble for examining the food, checking for contamination and adulteration and certifying its nutritional value. The job of a food technologist also includes the devising of new and improved techniques for processing , conservation and preservation of food items. They are also responsible for devloping new and modified products and processes. They also have to work on improving the quality control and material handling procedures. A food technologist has to ensure that the hygeinic conditions and proper procedure are maintained during the processing and packaging of food to prevent spoilage. After 12th with physics, cjhemistry, maths or physics , chemistry and biology , a student can do an undergraduate course in food technology. One can puruse b.tech food technology , b.sc food technology or bsc food food science , nutrition and food quality control. To improve job prospects it is always suggested that students should go master degree in food technology or higher qualkification. The job opportunities for food technologists are there in hotels, retailing organizations, hospitality industry, food industry, ricve mills, food processing industry, packaging industry, soft drink makers, distilleries etc.
