Dear aspirant

Thank you for approaching counsellors at Mera career guide and i am extremely impressed with your choice of career in becoming a profesosr. You have chosen a highly reputable, responsible profession and hats off to your decision for that.

To become a profesosr in your desired subject, you have two options.

1. one, studying a doctorate qualification like a PhD

2. second, having a minimum of 10-15 years of senior position industry experience and then shifting into academia.

1. To get a Phd:

India has a basic rule for anyone aspiring to do a PhD and that is to follow either a 10+2+3 route or a 10+2+4 route. I will explain it below.

  • You should pass 10th with minimum first class and this is (10)

  • pass 12th class with a minimum first class and this is (+2)

  • Pass a three year bachelor degree like BA/ BSC/ BCOM with a minimum first class and this is (+3) or pass a four year bachelor degree like BENG/ BTech with a minimum first class and this is (+4). As you desire to be a profesosr of electricla and electronics engg, you should study a relevant degree like the BENG/ BTECH electrical and electronics engg. You can also opt to study BSc Electronics degree.

  • Please note sc/st category students can get a minimum of 55% and others need a minimum of 60%.

  • Next you should study a two year masters degree like MSC/ MENG/ MTECH in elctric and electronic engg.

  • next write GATE exam if you aim to study phd at IIT institutions.

  • Else write UGC-NET/ CSIR exam if you aim to study outside IIT institutions. Outside institutions also accept GATE scores in place of UGC NET exams. You should also complete and qualify for a UGC-JRF if you require monthly stipend through out your PhD.

  • With all these scores you can apply for a phd and study.

Completing this PhD you are qualified to work as a professor.
