Hello there

Thank you very much for approaching counsellors at Mera career guide and I am glad help you get your query solved today. First let me introduce myself before I move on to the topic, I am Gomathi and I am the Managing Director of GV Business Consulting Group based in Bangalore. i have been into this counselling industry as a counsellor for almost 23 years now and i am specialized in education and career counselling. So lets go into our topic now. So you want to be a Professor in Marketing management? Welll its nice to hear your interest in teaching and hearty appreciation for that. To become a professor, you need a PhD. And i will now brief on how to do a Phd and become a professor.

  • First of all you need to follow up a +10+2+3 pattern of education. That is you should have completed 10th standard with a minimum first class or above, then studied 12th standard with a minimum first class or above and then did a three year Bachelor or four year Bachelor degree with a minimum first class or above. Please note if you are from SC/ST reservation category, universities give you a flexibility of 55% score as minimum. This bachelors degree could be in any field of your interest.
  • Completing bachelors degree, you can write GATE exam and with that score you can send Phd application at the IIT's. ALso note that UGC-NET exam is required if you dont have GATE score. And UGC-JRF is definitely required if you want monthly stipend while doing a PhD in Management with marketing as specialization.
  • Alternatively you can also comeplete a two year Masters degree and then apply for a PhD. This could be either MSc or MA or MBA or ME or MTech. Again if your focus is on IIT, GATE score is mandatory. If your focus is on IIM, you need to pass CAT exam with very high rank. If you have obtained an ME/MTech degree, then CAT score could be waived.
  • if your focus is not either IIT or IIM, then you need to submit scores of UGC-NET and UGC-JRF along with your PhD application. Universities all over India is mandatory with UGC-NET score for PhD admission. With all these relevant scores and documents, you can apply for a PhD in Management and specialize in Marketing.

Completing a PhD in marketing management, you are eligible to initially start working as an assistant professor and within two-three years based on your performance you could be promoted as a professor.

Hello,

To get the post of professor, firstly you have to clear the masters degree. Once you clear it with minimum aggregate marks then you should apply for UGC NET Exam which is organised by one of the well known agency i.e. the National Testing Agecny.

The subject for which you can apply is Management.

After qualifying the NET Exam you will be eligible to apply in various colleges and institutes for the post of Assistant Professor.

After getting recruited for Assistant Professor post, you will be promoted to Associate Professor and then Professor.

Hope it helps!
