  • Good to hear you have decided on doing an MBA. But there are some essential criteria that you need to consider before thinking of studying the MBA. MBA is much worth when you build up some prior work experience in your career. Lots of students complete their undergraduate degree and rush into the MBA without work experience. This is totally wrong and almost all the business and management experts advice on having at least two or three years work experience before you begin studying the MBA. So if you are without work exp yet, it is very essential for you to work at least for two years and then study the MBA.

Reasons for doing the MBA after some work experience:

  • You will understand the subject better.MBA is a professional degree and not just another postgraduate degree. A professional degree means it is meant for people who aim to be a consummate professional after gaining two to three year work experience. When you have prior work experience, you will develop knowledge and good understanding of business and management functions. Your MBA syllabus will almost reflect the same that you were exposed in your work life so at the time when you study MBA, it will be very easy for you to understand and relate the concepts better.

  • Better job opportunities:Companies prefer to recruit students with MBA + work experience rather a fresher + MBA degree student. When you have some years of exp plus the MBA, companies will prefer you the most for recruiting and this way you will be landing up with a job very easily compared to students without work exp.

  • Save money for your MBA fees:This is the most important point I have for you. As you have mentioned your financial constraints, it is advisable to save some money to contribute to your MBA tuition fees. If you work for at least two to three years, you can save any where between 3-6 lakhs depending on your salary and this can be more than enough to help you complete your MBA from a good B school.

Low cost MBA schools in India:
Saying MBA is costly is a myth. So please dont worry, there are many colleges in India that offer MBA with low fee structure. Here are a few:
  • Faculty of management studies, FMS University of Delhi - Rs. 20,960/-
  • Tata Institute of Social Sciences Mumbai - Rs. 34550/-
  • NIT Trichy - Rs. 63320/-
  • BHU - Rs. 56984/-
  • MIB/ MHROD Delhi - Rs. 29000/-
  • MFC/ MBE Delhi - Rs. 24722/-
  • SRCC- GOB - Rs. 48000/-

All the above fees are total for two years. Good luck.
