Graduation is mandatory for becoming an IAS officer. Therefore you definitely need to be a graduate and if you have chosen BTech, then it is definitely good. Generally civil service exam aspirants, start preparing for the exam after 12th. They generally prepare for three years and by the time they graduate, they appear for the exam. Taking coaching for the civil exam preparation is recommended which helps in dedicated study, concentration, guidance, support and build confidence.
Yes, it is not guaranteed that one will clear the civil service exam in first attempt and that too all the three levels, however once prepared it is beneficial for the second attempt. Therefore, it is recommended that apart from the civil service exam preparation, one should not lose focus in the graduation studies and should score at least a first class.
Do complete your BE since if you do not clear the UPSC, you will have the option and scope to get into the industry.
