Reading your questions headline got me thinking what exactly you meant by jumping from one career to another.

As you have mentioned you are currently into the first year of BFM, mostly one can choose their specializations in the second year.
So you surely have a chance to talk to the management and get your choice of specialization.
But for that you need to put in efforts right in the 1st year, since a little of the BBI concepts do get touch based in the 1st year.

Since you are a BFM student, the marks you score will prove whether you are capable of coping up with the left over portion and then can you continue with your studies in the 2nd year and final year.
Moreover, apart from percentage, since it is a self financed course, they have limited seat option.

So you would really have to talk to the management to generate a seat as per your requirement.
Some colleges or boards are stringent, whereby they do not like to adjust. Since the professor is paid on the basis of student attending the specialization.
Banking and Insurance management

So if you move from BFM to BBI, they cannot reduce the pay of the BFM professor nor can they increase the pay of the BBI professor.
So it is a matter of luck for you to get into the course.

But there is no point getting disheartened. In case they are unable to shift you to BBI, you need not worry.

Since banking and insurance is what you are looking out for, there are various diploma and certificate courses available after graduation which you can apply for and get certified.
One of the major institute relating to banking courses which even a BBI graduate applies to is:

Choose wisely and look forward.
Wish you good luck....

Dear Aspirant,

Thanks for approaching us at CareerGuide.com!!!.

I would suggest you not to think of shifting just because you dont like the BFM. You should have thought and got information about BFM before joining it, whether you will like it or not.

I would suggest you to complete BFM and then go for MBA in Banking Finance or MBA Finance or do a course with IFBI and get placed in banks.

To be best sure of what suits you for your career, I would suggest you to undergo a psychometric test from CareerGuide.com which will help you understand yourself in respect of your strengths, weaknesses, emotional quotient, etc. and will exactly tell you which stream is good for you.

Best wishes,
