Hi,I am a carrier counsellor and also a psychological counsellor with .20 years experience.

You seem to have made up your mind for taking Navy either merchant Navy or Indian Navy.both the choices are good , important &needed for an Indian society .the difference is only if you opt for Indian Navy ,you will protect the seacoast belonging to India and if you opt for the merchant Navy, you will help in transportation of India's cargo.

You have to take a decision which way you want to go ,it depends upon your attitude, emotional quotient & risk taking.
There may be monetary difference in the two carriers ,Indian carrier will give you high self esteem as you will be defending your county's waters while merchant navy you will see many ports and world's pports if you opt for foreign vessel company and might earn more .in Indian Navy you will get from 10,000 to 30,000.while as Initially as merchant navy cadet after your
training will get 25,000-50,000 or you can earn in foreign currency -or equivalent money (for foreign vessels/companies)
for these two options are Links you see for others required qualifications/age etc.

I have just completed my Training as Merchant navy officer. After 10+2 in PCM. You have to apply for IMUCET examination. Then if you have got your name in Rank list then you can apply for various merchant navy colleges.
