Hello

Thank you for choosing Mera career guide and writing to us. I am happy to help with your inquiry today. I understand you are graduating this Oct and have missed out MBA application deadlines. As you will be graduating only in October, I don't see a possibility for you to enroll in an MBA in August 2014. You may have to wait for a year and apply for 2015 intake. Please don't feel discouraged for not being enrolled in 2014 intake. Take it for good as you have ample time in strengthening your application.

May I ask you why you want an MBA? I truly believe you are attracted to this course for some glamorous reasons. MBA is for people who have already been part of the working world. It is a professional degree, an advanced degree and not a basic degree like an undergraduate degree. MBA is to apply understand and apply academic theories in practical world. How are you going to understand theories taught in your MBA without having an understanding about the functions of a business world. I understand your interest into MBA but I suggest you need time at least 2-3 years to pursue it. When you send your MBA study application after 2-3 years, you application will be strengthened with your work experience. You can also take a year or two to coach yourself for MBA entrance tests if you are aiming at highly ranked B-schools. So take a minimum of 2-3 years to prepare for CAT/MAT entrance tests and prepare seriously. With some work experience and good entrance test score, you can get into very good schools rather studying at a low facility school. Preparing yourself with work experience will certainly help you to graduate with good scores from your MBA as well. If you work for a few years and then study an MBA, you will understand the subject better. You will grasp the theories quickly comparing it with your practical experience that you did at office in those 2-3 years. Eventually, as you understand the subject well, you can also expect high GPA. Post graduation you will also have better standing in terms of career opportunities.

When you graduate with your MBA from a good B-School with high GPA, some 2-3 years work experience, tell me who is not going to recruit you? Companies prefer selecting students with prior work experience rather students with absolute no work experience. Your previous experience will be considered when they are fixing your salary, and will yield you a great salary package. MBA's with prior 2-3 year work exp are sure to sign up salary packages with a minimum of 5-6lakh per annum. You are at a great peak then.

So I would suggest you to work, gather work experience in years, prepare for entrance tests and apply to good B-schools. You are not late by one year. You are going to better utilise this time by working for some company. You are sure to rock. All the very best.
