I am not that impressed with your query and aspiration. Why do you want to settle yourself down for a bank job after MCA?

There is only one post in which you can suit yourself. And that is Specialist Officer (IT). That post can even be filled by a BCA candidate.

You did mca. Took enough pain to pass it and learn. I suggest you take up some IT assignments which you feel comfortable. I don't say that bank jobs are bad, but they definitely are typecast or stagnant. There may not be any opprtunity of career advancement.

That is not the case with IT sector. You advance in career as per your ability and work. Sky is the limit.

Still if you want to pursue a banking career, appear bank recruitment test specifically meant for Specialist Officer (IT) or any other Probationary Officer.

Or else, appear yourself for any clerical level exams conducted by banks though these are entry level and not suitable for your qualification.

Hope this answers your query.

Good luck.

Hello My Dear Bank Job Aspirant,

MCA is fantastic course and very much in demand today due to the boom in the Information Technology sector. MCA candidates are in demand by software companies and the demand has been rising steadily for years. MCA also gets good salary packages and good career growth.

I am an Educationist and in my more than seven years now experience in career counselling for diverse students like engineering / finance / law / management, I have seen MCA students get good placements in top companies. I have seen then enjoy their career in Information Technology.

You being in the final year of MCA, you are now thinking of shifting your career into banking. May I know the reason for this sudden thought of changing to banking sector? Are you wanting to do banking jobs or wish to do a job in information technology department of a bank?

With the growth of internet and applications for mobile banking, banks today definitely are wanting Information and Software technology specialists for making their banking programmes and products reach the masses. However, banks do not actually recruit information technology or software programmers yearly, since majorly the work of website maintenance, application servicing, technical support to customers is handled by outsourced companies. These outsourced companies work for banks.

If you are thinking of shifting your careers after MCA into bank jobs like in department of treasury, cash, retails banking, loans, deposits, etc. then your MCA degree will not help.

Gone are the days when public sector banks used to recruit BSc, BA, MA, MSc candidates not having any banking knowledge. Today banks require well trained and relevantly educated candidates for bank jobs.

You may appear for IBPS exam for clerical jobs in banks or you may appear for PO exams (Probationary Officers) which are conducted nation wide, where the number of vacancies are in hundreds however the number of applications which are received are in lakhs. Competition is very high in this case.

I think you need to decide why exactly you wish to go into banks for jobs after your MCA. You need to introspect your self more and find out what you really want to do in career and life.

Best Luck
