Hello Arun,Hope you are doing well. You have come to the right place to get a proper guideline for your future career.Answering to your question definitely you have an option to go for the IAS (Indian Administrative Services). But it all depends on your inclination and aptitude. Let be specific,once you complete your Engineering degree with ECE(Electronics and Communication Engineering) you have an opportunity to work in Private Sector i.e in Corporates. While if you want to serve public and want to be partner in formation of India; interested to work in government sector than definitely this is also a good career option for you.

As you have said you have an interest to serve the country. Than definitely you can go with the IAS as a best career option by cracking UPSC(Union Public Service Commission)exams.

You can apply to IAS exam through UPSC when you are in last year of your engineering degree or after completing degree.
While you can start your UPSC exam preparations from now,which will benefit you to crack the exam. You probably would be aware of the exam pattern for the IAS.
Still hereby i am providing you a brief idea of the exam pattern:
1.Prelim Examination-Objective type (qualifier)- The exam consists of two objective type papers.
2.Main Exam- It consists of 9 papers in total comprising of conventional essay type questions.
3.Interview/Personality Test.

While there is restrictions for the attempt of examination and age criteria as per the category i.e GENERAL category can attempt for exam 4 times till the age of 30 years;OBC category have 7 attempt for exam till the age of 33 years; for reservation category their is no restriction for the number of attempts for examination till the age of 35 years.
