Hello Sailaja, 

According to me teaching and pursuing a P.Hd are two different things.

One thing you can do here is opt for a guest lecturer in the same Institute where you would be pursuing your P.Hd or any other institute. Only then probably can UGC consider it to be a teaching experience.

But I still have my doubts, so best would be check the UGC website or write to them and get a clarification
