Hello My Dear...

I am very happy to see such a query which is so nice and genuine and well thought. This query suggests me that you are serious about your career and would like to be well informed about your career and future. As a Civil Engineer, it is very important to plan your career ahead and I therefore compliment you for this right attitude you have.

Unfortunately, a Civil Engineer working in the same field or the same level for five years does not make a major difference to the resume of the candidate. As per the current construction industry practices, five years is considered a very small time span to rise to the level of Sr. Engineer or Project Manager in a large or mid sized corporate. Civil Engineer as a fresher when he join the corporate is placed a a low end job with a comparatively low pay package since he lacks the required experience and practical technical expertise.

Today Civil Engineers need a major career jump or boost and that can be had through a specific training and learning process. Considering the current construction and infrastructure industry demands, there is a huge shortage of skilled man power. Companies are ready to pay good and high salary packages but unfortunately they are not able to get the required skilled human resource and Civil Engineer particularly are lacking this important aspect.

The important aspect is called as Construction Project Management. This is a very specialised field particularly for Civil Engineers today. Civil Engineer if learn Cosntruction Project Management they can get a jump in their career and can start directly from the level of Sr. Engineer / Assistant Manager level in corporate world. Today apart from the technical skills, the industry requires business management angle and this is called as Construction Project Management.

Civil Engineers in order to be able to rise to the Sr. Engineer level at the start are recommended to do a post graduation in construction project management. One of the Institutes of repute which trains Civil Engineers is based at Pune by the name Samvit School of Infrastructure Business. www.samvitinfra.edu.in

Best Luck
