If you start your career as a finance manger, to grow further you need to develop your skills & knowledge on daily basis. As the job of a finance manager is very challenging as well as interesting. You need to be updated on various things such as:

1) All the provisions of direct tax & indirect tax .

2) The amendments

3) Knowledge of ERPs such as tally, SAP, BAAN, Oracle etc

4) Good computer skill specially MS excel

5) and many other things

If you are able to update yourself consistently & work in the same area, then you have a bright future. If a person starts as a finance manger he can achieve the position of Finance director/CFO as well.

Its all upto your calibre & service deliverance. You need to become a key person in the company. You may also get a chance to head the particular division of the company. There are chances that you may become Regional finance head as well.

However you need to have a professional qualification as well to achieve these designation in such a short time. You may pursue CA, CWA, MBA which will raise your profile manifold/
