Well B.Sc in Microbiology sounds very essential in clinical research, pharma research, drug research, etc.

I must inform you that Amity Institute of Microbial Technology offers very specialized MS program in Microbial Technology which place the students in above listed research and market sector as per the performance.

Explore the link: www.amity.edu/aims/ will help you for your information.

Apart from that you can visit All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), New Delhi and explore the gateway how to get entry into that they have wonderful training program which can fulfil your dream.

IMTECH, Chandigarh also facilitate PG level of Microbiological program you must visit the website and get details.

But before doing all these exercise you must analyse your strength in terms of CGPA/TGPA and see the structure of your curricula what you have studied at UG level and then start to make the coherency to the given link above.

Now come to the entrance test level of discussion one must know if you have easy access to any institute then strength and quality of that is always in quest. So be ready for rigorous task at the entry level for such prestigious institutions. You have to think structurally about your preparation that how to do this?

Firstly you complete your UG program thoroughly and then see the requisition and pre-requisition of your targeted specialized course like M.S in Microbiology, clinical research, Immunology, Microbial Technology etc.

If your UG program has already given the capstone or dissertation exposure to get hand on training then its fine otherwise you must join a six-months training course offered by many private RD company or govt organizations advertised through electronic media. It is very important to come up as a skilled aspirants so you are having complementary background along with theoretical knowledge.

Hope it will serve your purpose in being specialized student in your field.
Best of luck

Hello

I should definitely appreciate you for you have identified your interest and where it lies. You have chosen BSc Microbiology as your first graduation subject and it is definitely an excellent field. You have indicated few areas of interest as research, marine and medical. I shall explain to you on each one by one here.

Medical: Completing a BSc Microbiology degree you are eligible to work at hospitals as a lab technologist and private research labs as a microbiologist. For this you can do a MSc Micro biology after this BSc or instead study a MSc medical lab technology after this BSc.

Marine: After this BSc, you can study the MSc Marine science or MSc Marine biotechnology course. With this you are qualified to work in aquatic biotechnology, marine biotech. You can also work on micro-organisms living under water and their potential benefits. With a masters degree you are eligible to even work as government approved or private research labs as a aquatic or marine microbiologist.

Microbiology research: As you have mentioned your desire to be a researcher in microbiology, you can pursue a doctorate degree. I shall expalin on this in detail here. To study a PhD in microbiology, one must have been through either the 10+2+3 route or a 10+2+4 route. This means you should have completed 10th, 12th and completed a three year bachelors degree like the BSc, BA, Bcom or at least a four bachelors degree like the BE, Btech etc. As you should have passed 10th, 12th and are currently doing your BSc, you are in the right route to study a PhD.

So to study this PhD, you should first complete this BSc with a minimum of 60% if you are from a general category and 55% is sufficient if you are from the reserved category. So after this BSc, you can do a MSc Microbiology course or the MSc Microbial biotechnology course. Completing this MSc, you are again expected to get a minimum of 60% if you belong to general category and around 55% if you belong to reserved category. So after this MSc, you should write and qualify UGC NET exam. You need to pass UGC NET exam as this is the second eligibility to apply for a PhD. If you want to study at the IIT's for a PhD course then you need to have written and qualified with a high rank in GATE exam conducted by the IITs'. You should also write and qualify UGC JRF exam if you are seeking stipend support throughout your PhD study. Hope this helps. good luck.
