I'm just done with my tybsc. Zoology subject was my honors.

I'm really confused which field to choose exactly . I'm really interested in wildlife(except for histology and physiology) Which field would be best to opted? Which one has the best scope in India(Maharashtra or anywhere near)?

To become a wildlife scientist or wildlife biologist you have to do first Masters in Zoology, or animal behavior or animal conservation or animal habits and habitat or wildlife biology, conservation biology, ecology since you are a zoology honors, therefore, you understand this subject very well.



Depending upon the job requirement, the doctoral degree is must for some wildlife job. The employer ask for some specialized subject in zoology or related field.



Before choosing a career of wildlife, first pose these questions to you, if your answer is yes, then you have an aptitude to pursue the career in wildlife.



  1. . Are you interested in a career that allow you to conserve the wildlife populations.


  2. Are you interested in a career, which allows you to work out side and with animals.

Job description of a wildlife biologist:





Wildlife biologist help to maintain and conserve the wildlife populations by examining factors such as disease, nutrition, breeding, habitat, relationship, and population dynamics. wildlife biologist are responsible to study the impact of human activities and environmental change on the ecosystem that wildlife depends on.





Job opportunities for a wildlife biologist:




  1. Colleges / universities /research institutions


  2. State and central governmental departments


  3. Environmental consulting firms


  4. Television Channels working on animals activities and their behavior (Discovery, National geographic)


  5. Zoos, aquarium, and nature centers


  6. Non profit organization, such as Wildlife Habitat, Canada, Alberta Conservation Association, Trout Unlimited





In India and Maharashtra there is lot of scope for a wildlife biologist or wildlife conservationist. You may join a college or university or a research institute. Even after joining a college or university, you may divert your research interest towards the wild animals. This will give you an opportunity to work in field. For a field job, you should be physically fit and healthy, because you may have to visit the forests, mountains, cold deserts and marine regions.





You may also try for jobs advertised by Forest departments by central and Maharashtra government. Here you will have good opportunity to work in national Parks, and centuries. If your are interested, then you may qualify the Indian Forest Services Examination and you will join as Forest Officer.





First make yourself eligible by completing post graduation and if required also doctoral degree.
