In Ideal Career Test, I responded to if I would like or dislike working in a particular work-setting which I have never worked in. How can I trust your report if it is based on such imaginary situations?

I believe you are referring to the “Work Situations” section. Yes, in most cases, students like you may not have had actually worked in those situations. You do not have to worry because the purpose of that section is not to capture your actual experience. It has been included to probe your candid thoughts on some commonly known work settings. If you responded truthfully without trying to pose as someone else, you are in good hands. You would have observed that none of those situations are too complicated or uncommon. Your responses to those prompts are combined with “Situational Explorations” and other sectional answers to arrive at the list of observations about your interests and personality traits as they stand today. They are listed in your report on separate pages with an explanation of its relevance.

The report’s recommendations are not only based on the “Work Situations” section. It is just one of the six sections with some imaginary situations. There are other sections that have closed ended prompts with a specific right answer. So in the broader context, your profile is being evaluated in a very balanced way.

You may feel that the “Work Situations” section has more weight than the other sections but that is not true.  Our team of experienced Psychometricians has taken extra care to ensure that these tests portray a near accurate broad picture without judging anyone’s personality. The purpose is to help you in the reflection process so that when you are debating the options with your Parents, you have a clear outline for having a constructive discussion. This is important because, in my experience, I have seen many families spending long hours on an unstructured discussion without any clear roadmap.
