Hello There!

Interior Designing is an excellent field and it is not limited to residential designing, but also now very much required in hotels, hospitals, multiplexes, etc. Growing urbanisation and retail market has given a boost to the interior designing field and many professionals are now required by companies, architects, consultants, etc for handling the interior designing work. It is a very promising, creative and good paying career option.

As mentioned above, Interior Designing is a fantastic and exciting field for doing a successful career. You can either do a job or have your own interior designing consultancy. Interior Designing is very much liked and loved and preffered by females, since they they like indoor jobs and creative ones too. However there are many males also inclined to do this course and get successful.

Considering that you are HSC Arts passed, hindi medium, you can DEFINITELY join an Interior Designing course. However please ensure that you join a very reputed and good institute which also helps in getting placement and also helps in setting up your own interior consultancy.

Interior Designers work closely with Architects since Architect is a professional who looks at the right placing and building of a project from outside and inside while an Interior Designer sees to it that the interiors arrangements are done satisfactorily also according to the convenience, comfort and requirement of the end customer.

For getting admission to an Interior Designing course, the basic eligibility in terms of educational qualification is just SSC. Your are an HSC, so you definitely can go ahead and pursue your passion and ambition in Interior Designing.

I am sure with an admission into a good institute, you will become successful.

Best Luck

Thank you for choosing Mera career guide and writing to us. I appreciate your interest in interior designing career. From your query I understand that you are from a Hindi medium and I can definitely tell you that it is not an issue to stop you from studying an Interior designing degree. Students can be from any medium of school to study a degree in India. So you are definitely eligible to apply for an Interior designing program. But you should ensure that Interior designing program will be taught in English at college level and you need to cope up with it. Also most of the colleges run an entrance test to select students for the BSc/ B.Des. Interior designing program. In the entrance test, all the questions will appear in English and very few colleges will provide a translation of questions in Hindi language. Your entrance test will have English, Maths and some general knowledge questions. You should pass the test with a minimum first class 60% and upon this merit you will be admitted in college. It is also a wise decision to attend some English spoken class to get you ready for a college. Once you complete the spoken English course you will provided a certificate and this will convince college administrators that you can read, write, learn and speak in English. They wouldn't be reluctant to admit you because you were from a Hindi medium.

Some of the colleges you can consider for Interior designing are
  1. Madras institute of fashion technology (they provide a BSc Interior designing course tied up with Madras university, Annamalai University and Madurai Kamaraj University).
  2. Vogue institute of fashion design Bangalore
  3. Lisa design school Noida
  4. National institute of design Ahmedabad
  5. Pearl academy
  6. JD Institute
  7. Noyal college
  8. Lovely professional university LPU Punjab
Of all the schools listed above, National institute of design Ahmedabad definitely runs an entrance test in which English is a component in the test paper and make sure you download some past papers of entrance test to prepare your self well.

Completing the degree you can work in hospitals, hotels at their designing section. You can also work at designing companies who employ you as a designer/ designer consultant. You can also opt to study Masters like the MSc/ M.Des. degrees. All the best.
