Is doing bsc economics and management worth it?

My friend told me about ISBF so I filled its admission form but now I am not sure if bsc economics and management is worth it. ISBF charges 5lakh per year for this. Ans claims to provide good job after this. No need of MBA. I just want to know should I go for it or not?

Hello

Doing an honors with Business and Economics is absolutely very good. But wait, the decision to study BSc with eco and business is alone good, but I would not really recommend choosing the college you had mentioned, for never I have heard of its name. Instead I would advice you to go for a BSc Economics degree and probably choose Management as your specialisation/ elective as part of the BSc Economics degree. So think wisely before you take up this course at this college. Moreover I find it pretty unreasonable to see they charge 5lakh per year for a BSc course. Even the BE/ BTech's wont charge you on this fee scale so dont get into this.

Job guarantee is something a college shouldn't assure you. Keep this well in mind all your life. What if you score less, say 48% in your BSc, will they still get you a job? Frankly speaking more than your marks, it is those essential work skills that you develop and demonstrate through out your college will only assure you with the right job for you. So a college saying that they offer you job is all business trick so please dont fall for it.

The best advice I would give you is, take on a BSc Economics now and see which colleges offer you Management subject as an elective of this BSc degree. I am not sure what colleges will offer you this elective but I am sure there should be colleges doing this as its a lucrative option. You can consider doing your BSc at one of the best colleges in India like the Uni of Delhi, Uni of Mumbai, Uni of Calcutta - Presidency college infact, Uni of Madras, Uni of Allahabad, Jamia Millia Islamia, Banaras Hindu Uni and so on. Try your luck for an admission at one of the above mentioned universites as studying with them will be truly rewarding for your career. Once you complete your BSc, you can then choose to work in your field for a minimum of two years. Gaining work experience in a real field is very essential to study either business or management subjects. So after a minimum of two year work exp, enroll yourself for either a PGDM/ MBA in a reputed b school, you are sure to rock on with your life. All the best.
