After LLB, most the students stop their studies, takes up a job from campus placements at their college. But LLM is a post graduate course after doing LLB. Benefits of doing LLM are huge in numbers. Here are some reasons why you should consider going for LLM after LLB:

  • To move to a new part of the world & get internationally recognized: to succeed one must fly from its nest, likewise, students when going to different parts of the world to study, it helps them develop. They seek for a different perspective, different ideas, & learn different laws. The more developed your skills are, the job opportunity will further increase.  After doing LLM from an internationally recognized University can also help you seek job opportunities in various other foreign countries.  Subjects like environmental law, International trade law, shipping law etc are very much in demand almost always. Doing LLM in such fields of law can be beneficial.
  • Networking: In a classroom of an elite law school, students from all over the world come to the same Students from a number of countries, with different legal backgrounds, share their experience & knowledge with each other. This gives you a unique chance of networking both professionally & personally. They network with attorneys all over the world, without even traveling around the world. Various research works show that the students can do a fully fledged research & has studied the topic from top to bottom.

  • To be a teacher of law: In India, to become a teacher or a profession or a lecturer, you have to clear NET qualifying exam. To be eligible for NET, one has to be a postgraduate. Since LLB degree is an undergraduate degree, you need to do your LLM. This is a requirement in every country. To teach, you need an advanced degree in that subject. But when a person chooses this path, they generally take other consideration while choosing subjects.
