It is not necessary for you to take up math in the science stream since options like physics; chemistry and biology (PCB) are also available. However true it may be that scientists do not need advanced math in order to succeed in life, this has been changing. These days scientist are required to handle large amounts of data for which they need basic statistical knowledge. However, mathematical thinking can help you to a great extent here.
By taking up math, you not only make your brain active in terms of calculations and analysis but it also enhances your retention and attention capacity over time. Despite that, it is not important for one to take math since abstract mathematical thinking helps in analyzing data related to fields like social psychology or evolutionary biology. Like it is said, you do not have to be a mathematician in order to think like a mathematician. True success in science does not necessarily come from mathematics. Science is a very vast field of study and not all streams require mathematics for someone to be a successful scientist. Therefore, if you want to take math in the science stream and you think that it will help you in the future and that you might be good at it, then you should definitely go ahead and study it. Mathematics is a subject that can be used in any aspect of a person’s life. However, if you are not confident about taking up math and you think that it might stop you from scoring well in the other subjects, then you should try not to opt for the same.
