Archeology is the study of past human life and culture by recovering and studying the material evidences like tools, graves, ancient monuments and buildings.

This is not a 9 to 5 kind of job and involves a lot of travelling and sometimes can be in odd circumstances and may involve being alone too away from family. Also involves a lot of minute analytical and observational skills.

For a career in Archeology, you must know your history accurately. You must have studied history in the 12th.
Post that you could opt for a BA in Archeology, a 3 years undergraduate course.
