Thank you for choosing Mera career guide and writing to us. I appreciate your aim of studying abroad at your undergraduate level in Engineering. May I ask you a few questions to help me understand your current position now?

Are you currently studying at JNTU or planning to study at JNTU? And what course in Engineering you plan to study or want to study? As you will know Engineering is a broad field ranging from Computer Engineering, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Chemical and so on. I would try to base my answer in general as you aspire studying abroad.

First of all I am impressed to see your aim at studying Harvard University. You have researched well and known about good schools in the USA. I just need to give you a clarification, Harvard is very famous for two subjects and they are Management and Law. With respect to Engineering, Massachusets Institute of Technology (MIT) is first in the USA. MIT is well known for all aspects of Engineering and I would advice you to consider MIT as well or probably give importance to Harvard next to MIT. MIT is also ranked as the world's first rank University by the QS University world league table for the year 2013. QS world ranking is a reliable website posting university ranking from 1-500 worldwide.

Regarding study abroad at undergraduate level, you could spend up to 6 months or a year at a university abroad. You should check the universities your home university has partnership with. To clarify, JNTU has no tie up with Harvard but has tie up with Blekige Institute of Technology Sweden and Asian Institute of Technology Thailand. So by default you can only study your undergraduate at either of these two universities mentioned above and cannot study at Harvard. If you aspire studying at Harvard, you can register for a special student status and spend minimum of 6 months to one year and your university, where you study should approve your application and allow you to study there. At at undergraduate level to study abroad and at Harvard, you should write SAT test and TOEFL test and be passed with very high scores. Plus your first and second year of Engineering should be above 90%. JNTU has no agreements signed with Harvard. So there is no guarantee that you will be sent to study there. If you are currently in your 12th standard and are willing to study abroad, you can send applications for 'direct' undergraduate studies in USA itself. Else get high scores in your undergraduate, at least close to 90-95% and then apply to Harvard for MS, if you would like to achieve your dream of studying at Harvard. So, please be clear there are no entrance exams offered by JNTU to study at Harvard. I hope this helps.
