I am studying BDS in Mangalore from the past 7.5 years. The course is actually of 4 years. I have failed in 2-3 subjects every year and have passed them in 2nd or 3rd attempts. I went onto doing BDS due to my family background of BDS sister and father doing business of dental clinic equiment. I realise at present that I always scored more marks in Maths and Physics(requiring logic and thinking) in school and very less in biology or social studies (requiring mugging up, non-technical). Should I continue or leave BDS at present? Then, should I start B.E /B.Tech now? Or Is there any way that I can complete BDS and then I can go into engineering or any technical field?

Hi There,
My apology to be answering this so late.
Please note that, changing careers at a stage in life, is a crucial decision. You need to way your pros and cons and then take a decision. What I mean by this is, you need to consider few issues like
As far as you completing your Dental Study is concerned, please note that you have already completed half the study, and you have a few more years to go.As far as passing is concerned, remember, that few students are not good when it comes to theory and exams, whereas they are practically good.Probably in the job market, you may do well.
Instead if you shift at this stage into engineering, you would have to start from scratch, and according to you, you say you are good with logic, because you are unable to clear BDS exams. But you never know how engineering study will be in the future.
So according to me, it is better, if you stay patient and focus on your studies.Think practically, since what you study, has practical implications. If need be, when you face some doubts, take an appointment and meet a local dentists who can sort out your difficulties. At the same time, if possible and time permits, begin an internship with a dentists. Will get your ideas clear and it will help you in the course.
Work hard but Smartly.
Focus with hardwork and being practical is the key to succeed.
Wish you good luck............
