My question to you here is Why do you wish to switch fields at this stage???

You are a highly qualified individual and I am sure you have based your decision to pursue masters with a specific goal in mind.
At the same time 2.5 years is too soon to give up working and switch over.
There is a lot more to learn and get experience.

I would suggests take a break, get some certifications done to get yourself updated and then apply to another company and try getting experience.

But in-case still you decide to switch careers, then please note that you would have to start all over again.
Your experience and qualification gets nullified.

Rather move ahead in your career itself. You could opt for courses like Project management, SAP, MBA etc.

Rather than starting all over, pursue an MBA in any field as per your interests and join at the managerial level.

Your question indicates the unrest among the IT professionals which is growing now. Being an MTech in Software Engineering is actually a fantastic qualification with a huge scope for career growth. However it seems you are not able to handle the pressure and lifestyle of IT sector. If possible, please elaborate why you wish to change the domain and sector now?

Switching the field from software to non-software will require you some different qualification. I feel if you are determined to change the sector permanently, then an MBA from a reputed Institute is a must.

Every field is open to you by doing an MBA. I think MBA Marketing would suit you or MBA International Business. If you are willing then Finance is also a good option.
