Hi Pooja,
Interesting question.
The choice is yours.
But as a counselor, I would always suggest that pursuing an MBA program after experience is much better. Reason being, if you note a manager is someone who guides and treds along with his team towards completion of a goal or a target in an given organization. To achieve a target, the manager needs help of few traits like:
Now imagine a manager just out of a B-School, who has no base knowledge and is yet to develop managerial skills. Also the team he handles is full of experienced people, but are not MBA. Will they listen to him, just because he is from a B-School. Technical or base knowledge is zero, at the sametime he has hardly had any team or work experience and dealing with people at the top level is not easy.
Thus I recommend MBA after a work experience.
A work experience helps the student develop team ability, dealing with colleagues with different temperaments and at the same time work knowledge all which are extremely important.
Hope this helps.
Wish you good luck....
Dear Aspirant,
I completely agree with Ms. Meghana.
The type of graduation will determine whether it will be beneficial to do MBA after graduation or after taking some work experience.
If you are an Engineer, then taking work experience is recommended. Then after getting experience of 5 years, you can do part time MBA.
If you are a Commerce graduate, you can do MBA full time after graduation, however you will have to ensure that you do it from Top 10 BSchools to get maximum benefit in terms of placements and salary. Many commerce students do MBA after graduation from an average BSchool and they land up in ordinary jobs.
Internationally, admission to MBA is allowed if you have work experience of atleast 2-3 years.
Therefore you will have to decide your choice.
Best wishes
Hey Pooja,
Always have an end goal in mind. Which is in majority of cases is to earn a decent living in a decent organization of your interest.
You can do MBA straight out of college or rather wait and then do MBA with some experience.
What you need to keep in mind is that whatever you decide you alone have to take ownership of your decision. You need to be clear with your intention in the first place are you doing MBA as a fresher because all your friends and relatives cousins are doing it or are you doing it, avoid doing MBA under peer pressure or parental nagging in case that is the reason. As such without proper guidance or direction, you will be left clueless once you enroll and you won't be doing it out of your heart and passion in the course.
You need to be clear why MBA as this will asked at numerous occasion starting from admission, internships, and placement and even during Job switching and most importantly while deciding on your specialization.
The early you are able to figure te better it will in the long run. As your reason for doing MBA will keep your intention and goals clear in mind.
Also, you would be able to distinguish yourself in a competitive job market. Job opportunities are limited what makes you different is your uniqueness and your contribution as a learning participant regardless of what stage in life you choose to do MBA.
If I have to guide or suggest you in a simple language I would ask you to first have a rough idea of your personal development plan and the chalk out your personal development budget i.e. time and money.
would you BA be self-sponsored or against education loan or scholarship, in INDIA or abroad? which city or country?
1 year or 2-year time frame. what specialization you would like to go in for in the BA program.
Take your time, think about it in case you feel that is difficult for you then choose yourself.
